Northern Territory

Each September, Year 10 students have the opportunity to embark on an unforgettable journey to Central Australia and the Top End. Our students explore iconic Australian landmarks including Kata Tjuta, Watarrka and Kakadu national parks, Alice Springs, Mataranka, Katherine and Darwin.

Study Tours to Italy and Japan

Each year, our language students in their senior years embark on study tours to Italy and Japan. These long established trips not only immerse students in the language and culture of these countries, but they also provide an exchange experience with our Sister Schools, Instituti Superiore Giovanni Lanza in Casale Monferrato in Italy and Horyuji International High School in Nara, Japan.
 

Pilgrimages

Young Mercy Leadership Program and Dublin Pilgrimage

The Young Mercy Leadership Program’s pilgrimage to Dublin provides students with an opportunity to engage with the places important in the life and ministry of Catherine McAuley and the early women of Mercy. Held every two years, students from across the globe gather in Dublin for a conference at the Mercy International Centre. World Youth Day

Senior students have the opportunity to attend World Youth Day (WYD) which is held every three years in various locations around the world. The event is open to all young people (aged 15 to 35) to gather in celebration of unity in faith across cultures. The last WYD was held in Lisbon, Portugal in 2023.

AMSSA Conference

The Australasia Mercy Secondary Schools Association (AMSSA) Conference takes place every two years and involves students from Mercy schools across Australasia coming together to share their knowledge and passion for social justice.

Why is it called a 'pilgrimage' and not a trip?

We use the term 'pilgrimage' because this journey is more than just a trip. It is a journey with a sacred purpose that captures the spirit of mission and immersion. The first aspect of the pilgrimage is one of MISSION — where we work in the schools with children from primary and secondary years, learning about their education and language. The second half of the pilgrimage is devoted to IMMERSION — we immerse ourselves in the culture and society of communities. We gain an understanding of this vibrant region and develop an appreciation of its history, geography, people and lifestyle.
