Curriculum Years 7-10

Year 7

The College offers a structured Year 7 Transition Program to ensure a smooth transition into secondary school. A theme of connectedness has been developed for this purpose and is complemented by a homeroom teacher (through the Pastoral Care program) who is also a core subject teacher for the class. This allows students to build a strong relationship with their teacher who is available for daily queries and concerns.

There are compulsory core subjects of Religious Education, English, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education, Humanities, incorporating History and Geography as well as Italian and Japanese. A range of rotational subjects from Technology and The Arts allow students to try subjects they may select in elective blocks in future years.

Year 8

The curriculum on offer in Year 8 is similar to that of Year 7, with students having selected to study either Japanese or Italian. The core units undertaken by all students are delivered in homeroom groupings.

Core subjects are Religious Education, Mathematics, English, Humanities, Science and Sport. In addition to these core subjects students will also undertake study of a range of subjects on a rotational basis. The rotation enables students to get exposure to all practical subjects prior to the beginning of Year 9 electives.

Year 9

The curriculum in Year 9 is delivered via a combination of core and elective units. The core units undertaken by all students are delivered in homeroom groupings. The core program at Year 9 involves the teaching of Religious Education, Mathematics, English, Humanities, Science, Health and Sport. Students will also study four semester-length elective units. The choices will be made from The Arts (Visual or Performing), Health and Physical Education, Technology, Japanese or Italian, as well as additional units in English, Science, Humanities and Mathematics.

Year 10

The curriculum in Year 10 is delivered via a combination of core and elective units. The core subjects are Religious Education, English, Humanities, Mathematics, Science and Sport. The Mathematics choice at Year 10 is designed to enable students to select a stream for future study in VCE or VCE-Vocational Major.
