The College had 93 couples participate in Debutante Balls over three nights recently. The Year 11 Debutante Balls were held at Cathie’s Lane Receptions in Wantirna on Saturday 4 May, Saturday 11 May and Friday 17 May.

Thank you to Mr Peter Ruscitti from Trevor Dudley's Menswear, who provided the suits and ensured everyone looked very professional. Thank you also to Cathy and Lucio from Sassi Dance who patiently taught the students five routines to perform. They all did a wonderful job.

The Year 11 Level Leaders, Mrs Marie Prusac and Mr Richard Komiazyk, played a huge role in the organisation of the event and ensured it all went smoothly. Well done to all the students who participated.

Below some of the students reflect on the experience:

The night was absolutely amazing. All the running around, dance rehearsals and having to wake up early for appointments was worth it. Learning the dances was definitely a challenge for most of us, with partners stepping on each other’s toes, spinning the wrong way and forgetting the counts to music. On the night, we were all nervous about messing up, but everything went smoothly. Arriving at the venue, the energy was amazing. Seeing everyone dressed up and taking photos with big smiles on their faces was beautiful. The support from our teachers, friends and family really made us students feel welcomed when being presented. Deb is definitely the highlight of my year and a memory I will always cherish. I’m very thankful to have had the opportunity to do it.
— Anastasia S (Year 11 Red)

Deb was the best experience ever. Even with waking up early to get my make-up and hair done. Dressing up like a princess to look like I was floating around while doing our rehearsed dances was wonderful. Even when I missed a step or a turn it didn't matter because I was there with my friends and family.
— Hannah B (Year 11 Jade)

This year the College had three different Deb Balls. We spent eight weeks learning five dances to perform on the night. We had amazing dance instructors from Sassi Dance, Lucio and Cathy, who helped us get the hang of each dance week by week. The day itself was filled with nerves, laughter and smiles from everyone. For many, it started early in the morning with getting ready, getting photos and then heading over to Cathie's Lane Receptions to prepare for the night. We ran through all the dances, got lots of photos and calmed our nerves before we were presented. We all had an amazing time dancing with our friends and families throughout the night, especially during the special person dance. Overall it was a night to remember for everyone.
— Anika L (Year 11 Bronze)

Debutante Ball was a great experience from the rehearsals to the actual night. It was so nice to see all the effort put in by not only the school and teachers but the students. I know especially the people on my night were very dedicated to learning the dances and attended extra optional rehearsals. Throughout the lead-up to the big day everyone really connected with one another and this made for a beautiful and supportive environment. On the actual evening everyone looked stunning and the night went very smoothly. Overall Debutante Ball 2024 was an amazing time and I have definitely made memories I will never forget.
