Mercy Honour Role Inductee

John Michael McLindon

Year of Induction 2016

CLASS OF 2001

John Michael’s commitment to the Mercy Ethos has been demonstrated in every sphere of his life. Compassion, humility, integrity and strong leadership are just some of the traits which others have used to describe John Michael. From the class of 2001, John Michael gave outstanding commitment to the Old Collegians’ Association as one of its founding members and was instrumental in his role as co-vice president of the Association.

John Michael’s passionate views on social justice, love of debating and current affairs formed the basis for his studies in journalism. Since graduating, his sharp intellect and strong views led him to be drawn to the world of politics in the belief that he could make a difference. He was chief of staff to Daniel Andrews when he was Victorian Opposition Leader. His strong belief in the Mercy Ethos is clear in the unique and special friendship he had with the late Peter Anderson, with countless hours spent supporting Peter in the writing and publishing of his book and very practical support with fundraising activities.
