Since graduating from MLMC, Laura became a journalist and has had a highly successful broadcast television career most notably with her coverage of disasters, tragedies and 'big stories'. She has also been nominated for two prestigious awards — the Award for Excellence at the Rural Press Club and the Quill Award. The breadth and depth of the work Laura performs as a journalist and the success she has achieved in her chosen field, illustrates her thoroughness, her compassion and her commitment to truth and justice through reliable reporting of sometimes devastating events. Laura’s Mercy values are reflected in her strong sense of community and social justice. The courageousness she showed when sharing her personal loss and grief in losing her sister Skye (also an Old Collegian) was both heart wrenching and inspiring. Laura has shown understanding and compassion for others who are struggling and/or grieving and has continued to strive for improved conditions for those who are in need.
