Well done to everyone who participated in the recent MLMC House Swimming Carnival. The carnival was an optional event for students in all year levels and there was a great atmosphere at Lilydale pool on Friday 9 February.

There was a large contingent of Year 7 students excited to earn House points for the first time and it was heart-warming to see our House Prefects helping our determined young swimmers finish their events.

The day began with our House and Sports Prefects jumping in for a mad dash using various coloured inflatables, with Carr’s Raph G taking the honours.

Students began their racing with 100m freestyle events, before lining up halfway for 25m events.

The ever-popular Participation Relay — completing as many laps as possible in five minutes — meant there was a lot of splashing and water overflowing as students helped each other get from end to end as quickly as possible.

After 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events, the tug of war brought out some great House spirit. Prefects and senior students revved up the younger cohorts with warm-up exercises and chants. Terry Dunn took the win in the Grand Final against Frayne.

The final results in the battle for House points were:
6th — O'Neill 230 points
5th — Ryan 244 points
4th — Maguire 273 points
3rd — Carr 288 points
2nd — Terry Dunn 459 points
1st — Frayne 600 points

Well done to everyone in Frayne House and Frayne Prefect Gemma G!
