Prayer

O Lord, open our eyes that we may see the needs of others
Open our ears that we may hear their cries;

Help us to stand before all that we could do
and seek what you would do, and do that.

Let us not be afraid to defend the weak because of the anger of the strong,
Nor afraid to defend the poor because of the anger of the rich.

Lift from us our need to achieve all that we can be
and instead, surrender to what you can be in us.

Show us where love and hope and faith are needed,
And use us to bring them to those places

That we might be the instruments of peace.
