STEM MAD (Making a Difference) was a student showcase held on Thursday 11 October at Catholic Education Melbourne. MLMC students were given the opportunity to brief their peers on an exciting High Altitude Balloon (HAB) project that they have been working on all year. The students have built the balloon, coded the tracking device and are now preparing to launch it into ‘near space’ next week — the exact date and location are to be confirmed. The students will be recording data that is not readily available and collecting scientific information for further research. We will be accompanied at the launch by students from Catholic Regional College who will be there to launch model rockets that they have been building, one of which is the scace model of Saturn V.

An ambitious project like this, lets our students address real-world problems and take action that matters. You can learn more about the STEM MAD Showcase here.
