Prayers and Liturgies

Prayer is an integral part of daily life at Mount Lilydale Mercy College. Morning homeroom starts with prayer that is linked to current events, the Liturgical Year or personal issues within the group or community. Before lunchtime each day a prayer of thanksgiving is led by students for the whole College community with the exception of Fridays when the Prayer for the Beatification of Catherine McAuley is prayed. Prayer Group takes place once a week in the College Chapel led by senior Youth Ministry students and is open to all year levels. In addition the Chapel is open every day for students to visit for quiet prayer and reflection. Prayer is also an integral part of all College gatherings.

As a College community we believe the Mass or Eucharistic Celebration is the central act of divine worship in the Catholic Church, which describes it as "the source and summit of the Christian life". We begin our year with a full College Mass and gather together again on the Feast of the Assumption.

The College Community Mass takes place in Term 1 and Year 12 students are presented with their badges along with students new to the College. The Year 7 students are also presented with a Holy Bible. In addition we celebrate the Eucharist with individual homerooms and year levels. Throughout the year students plan and participate in a number of other liturgies such as Ash Wednesday, Easter and Mercy Day.
